This is a lovely condition complete German 5cm Pak 38 anti-tank gun shell. The armour piecing shell with its projectile that still has most of its original steel colour it has discolored in places but not much near complete colour on the base it is maker marked it fits in and out of the case but not very easily.The case is steel made with all of its original brass wash clear to see but is dirty and discolored it is in very nice semi- relic condition at worst it is still very solid it does not have any rust holes or damage near perfect condition. On the base of the case which has cleaned up very well it still has all of its maker markings including waffen stamp and is dated 1944 all very clear to see also the case is complete with its primer which is also maker marked and dated 1944.The rare bit it still has most of its original brass colour it has discolored from being in the silt of the lake but nothing to bad the case has been very well cleaned it is perfect to display or and a rare one for any collection to get a pretty much fully marked 5cm pak 38 case from the battlefield. The shell case and projectile is empty and inert and was recovered from a lake East of Bastogne in the Ardennes Forest from the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45.The shell comes with 2x A5 laminated information cards with pictures.
The shell projectile was recovered from a lake which was used as a dump site for battlefield clearance the area where the lake is, was attacked by the German 26th Volksgrenadier Division and elements of the Panzer Lehr Division.
