Glass framed Very rare aluminium airframe section with clear to see part number and its original green paintwork from American P40 Warhawk of 8th fighter squadron,shot down in 1942 near Port Moresby in New Guinea from the Pacific war

This is a nice and rare glass framed aluminium air frame structure section that still retains some of its original colours clear to see and a part number stamped in it also clear to see. The airframe section has most of its original green camouflage paint work remains. The part has ripped off by the impact of the crash they are in relic but solid condition and have been nicely cleaned perfect for display it has been mounted in to a glass fronted box frame with information and lots of pictures and map the frame is 12 inches by 12 inches in size. The part was recovered from the crash site of  American P40 Warhawk of the 8th fighter squadron which was shot down and crashed in 1942 near Port Moresby in New Guinea  from the Pacific war. A very rare part to get hold of from the war in the Pacific.

The 8th squadron moved to Australia and became part of 5th Airforce in January 1942. It was re-\designated as the 8th Fighter Squadron in May 1942. The unit received Curtiss P-40 Warhawks in Australia and, after training for a short time, provided air defence for the Northern Territory.The squadron moved to New Guinea in October 1942 to help stall the Japanese drive southward from Buna to Port Moresby. It engaged primarily in air defence of Port Moresby; also escorted bombers and transports, and attacked enemy installations, supply lines, and troop concentrations in support of Allied ground forces.8th Pursuit Squadron P-40Es at Darwin, Australia, in June 1942. The 8th participated in the Allied offensive that pushed the Japanese back along the Kokoda Track, took part in the Battle of the Bismark sea in March 1943, fought for control of the approaches to Huon Gulf, and supported ground forces during the campaign in which the Allies eventually recovered New Guinea. It covered the landings on Noemfoor and had a part in. the conquest of Biak.
