German early war aluminium made mg 34/42 single ammunition tin lid,waffen stamped dated 1940 recovered from a field near Trun a pit dug by the allies where lots of German equipment buried after the battle in the Falaise Pocket,Normandy in France 1944

This is a early war German mg 34/42 early war aluminium made ammunition tin lid with some original black paintwork it is maker marked and is waffen stamped and dated 1940 that can be seen fairly clearly on the top of the lid .It does still have its carry handle which has rusted solid the tin lid is in semi- relic condition at worst overall very good condition still with a lot of original colourit does have a few small rust holes it is unusual to find from the battlefield in such good condition with so much paintwork and colour the tin has about 70% of its original black paint work the tin overall in nice condition a very nice battlefield relic.The lid was recovered from a field near Trun, which we think was a pit dug by the allies where lots of German equipment was thrown in and buried after the battle in the Falaise Pocket,Normandy in France 1944. A nice rare relic from the famous Normandy battlefield and comes with A5 laminated information sheet.
