    German Kriegsmarine U-boat  3.7cm Flak M42 ammunition container with fantastic markings .Found at a flea market in Lorient , Brittany France. Dated 1944

    the container is in great solid condition with fantastic identification markings and date stamped in two places. Unfortunately the lid has been lost at some point in history - still an amazingly rare find and a great addition to any Kriegsmarine or U-boat collection!

    The 3.7cm Flak M42 was the marine version of the Flak 36/37 and used by the kriegsmarine on U-boats and surface ships. Several types of mounts existed & the gun entered service in 1943.Rounds were loaded in a five round clip giving it a rate of fire of 250 rounds per minute. It replaced the older 3.7cm SK C/30.
